A Place of Tranquillity with a Story to Tell 🌿✨
Formerly known as Clementine Cottage, I have lovingly renamed it Riley Woods Cottage to reflect the rich history and peaceful beauty of the land it sits on. This isn’t just a place to stay, it’s a retreat woven into the fabric of Eyam’s extraordinary past.
A Landscape of History and Natural Beauty
Just beyond the cottage, the landscape holds centuries of history. As you drive up Riley Lane you drive through the heart of Riley Woods. The nearby Riley Graves, enclosed by their original dry-stone walls, are a lasting tribute to Eyam’s remarkable past during the plague of 1665-1666. Set against a backdrop of rolling hills and quiet countryside, this place is a powerful reminder of the resilience of those who lived here before us.
Why the Name Change?
By renaming Clementine Cottage to Riley Woods Cottage, I wanted to honour the land’s deep connection to history and nature. Riley Woods is not just a beautiful landscape, it’s a place that has held stories for generations and remains a peaceful, restorative retreat today.
Now, it offers a tranquil escape for those who want to step away from the everyday and immerse themselves in the beauty of the Peak District.

This isn’t just a cottage, it’s a place where history and nature intertwine, where you can slow down, reflect, and reconnect with the world around you.
